It was an exciting meeting with 150 participants from 12 countries of the Danube Region, the youngest 15 and the oldest 85 years old. The in-person meetings of partners from different projects, along with the study visits on Wednesday, 8 July, and Thursday, 9 July, gave our guests valuable insights into social, educational, and cultural institutions shaped by democratic awareness and solidarity, including through the involvement of many volunteers. The conference at the Edwin-Scharff-Haus on the topic “Democracy Needs All of Us” on 10 July was a great success, again bringing together around 150 participants from 12 different countries of the Danube Region in a diverse mix of representatives from NGOs across a wide range of fields, as well as universities and schools. Intensive discussions took place at 19 roundtables, each addressing different current issues relating to democracy, social participation, and European cooperation. The multilingual AI-supported translation using Wordly on Friday morning – in German, English, and Romanian – was received particularly positively.

Final Programme of the Meeting of the Educational Network Danube Networkers
Project „Women strengthen democracy through critical and proactive use of the media“
With support from the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung, Germany, DANET is realising a workshop as part of the Danube Networkers meeting on 9 and 10 July 2026. The aim is to foster a reflective approach to fake news, hate speech, and digital violence, thereby supporting democratic resilience, media freedom, and social cohesion. The targeted use of digital tools strengthens cooperation and networking at national and international levels. The workshop aims to provide female multipliers in women’s education from Ukraine, Hungary, Serbia, Austria, and Germany with practical digital tools, enabling them to protect themselves against the misuse of media and to use it proactively.
