It was an exciting meeting with 150 participants from 12 countries of the Danube Region, the youngest 15 and the oldest 85 years old. The in-person meetings of partners from different projects, along with the study visits on Wednesday, 8 July, and Thursday, 9 July, gave our guests valuable insights into social, educational, and cultural institutions shaped by democratic awareness and solidarity, including through the involvement of many volunteers. The conference at the Edwin-Scharff-Haus on the topic “Democracy Needs All of Us” on 10 July was a great success, again bringing together around 150 participants from 12 different countries of the Danube Region in a diverse mix of representatives from NGOs across a wide range of fields, as well as universities and schools. Intensive discussions took place at 19 roundtables, each addressing different current issues relating to democracy, social participation, and European cooperation. The multilingual AI-supported translation using Wordly on Friday morning – in German, English, and Romanian – was received particularly positively.

Meeting of the Danube-Networkers in Ulm, 8–11 July
Please note: Start on 8 July – expanded programme
As part of the 14th International Danube Festival Ulm/Neu-Ulm 2026, a partnership meeting of the international education network Danube Networkers and other stakeholders from the Danube region will take place from 8 to 11 July 2026, under the motto “Democracy Needs All of Us.”
ILEU e.V., in close cooperation with DANET e.V., the Danube Office, and other partners, is delighted to once again welcome friends from the Danube countries to Ulm. Active members of the Danube Networkers education network, as well as guests from other EUSDR networks, will participate in the meeting.

Friday, 10 July, will feature a large conference on the theme “Democracy Needs All of Us,” bringing together participants from all Danube countries. Using participatory methods, the conference will foster dialogue and the exchange of good practice examples, exploring how participants can work together toward a peaceful and united Europe.
