In the frame of the project “Tastes-of-Danube. Bread, Wine and Herbs”, seven Danube Networkers from Germany, leaded by Carmen Stadelhofer, president Institute Ileu and DANET, came to Romania, Timisoara in the afternoon of 18th April 2016 in the activity “Danube Bread on Tour”. They participated at the project activities realized by the Association “The Writers` League” Timisoara Banat Branch, coordinator organization for Romania.
Their programme begun with a town tour, which included Metropolitan Orthodox Cathedral. Victory Square, She-Wolf Statue, Culture Palace, Liberty Square, Union Square, Baroque Palace, Catholic Dome, Serbian Orthodox Church, Dicasterial Palace, Deschan Palace, Mercy Palace, Nikolaus Lenau Highschool, Swabian Bank, National Bank of Romania, Politechnic University, West University and Therezia Bastion.
In the next morning, after a guided visit at the museum of the Metropolitan Orthodox Cathedral, the Danube-Networkers arrived at the Pedagogic High School “Carmen Sylva”, one of the most prestigious school in the region, partner in the project, and were welcomed by the teachers and pupils involved in the project, which whom they shared opinions, ideas and thoughts about the project and gave the “urteig” (sourdough).
A next stop was at the Secondary School “Rudolf Walther”, which was the first village of children in Romania inaugurated in 13.09.1994 by Rudolf Walther Foundation Timisoara. The director made a tour of the village for the visitors and presented them to the pupils. Also the baker of the institution received the “urteig” for making Danubian bread.
The Cultural Association “Constantin Brancusi” brought the Danube-Networkers to Cramele Recas Winery, the fifth largest winery in Romania; to Izvin Bakery, where the baker received the “urteig” and to a traditional lunch at a family restaurant.
In the afternoon, the Danube-Networkers arrived at the project activities which included the launching of the book “On the Danube shore” written by the historian Ionel Cionchin, and an artistic programme realized by participants from partners organizations.
The local television Tele Europa Nova reported about the visit of Carmen Stadelhofer in Timisoara and project “Tastes of Danube”. Also the newspapers wrote about the meeting in Timisoara.
Next morning Romanian participants at the project joined the German team to the activities organized by Serbian organizations at the Agricultural High School in Vrsac. We started with a town tour: the Fortress and Tower of Vrsac and the Museum. At returning at High School, we were happy to meet the representative (director) of the State Ministry Baden-Württemberg for the the cooperation Baden-Württemberg-Vojvodina, sector agriculture, which was responsible for the travel programm of two students from Agriculture High School Vrsac to Germany.
Media and local politicians were present at the meeting at Agriculture High School. The teachers involved in the project presented their activities in the frame of the project and after that a common session of baking took part and a music programme.
In the evening the Romanian participants returned home and the German participants continued their “Danube-Bread on Tour” to Gudurica and Belgrade, where National Foundation for Human Ageing “Dr Laza Lazarevici” made an interesting programme.
