Abstract: Most recent developments in Slovenia. The International Day of Older People was celebrated by the Ljubljana’s 17th Festival of Third Age and many other events organised by Slovenian Federation of Associations of Pensioners.
Slovenian Third Age University is getting ever more focused on the topics of the silver economy as well as digital inclusion of older people. Being digitally excluded means not only economic precarity but also precarity of relationships when one’s life is less connected with the lives of other people. An E-seniors Conference on the digital inclusion of older people was held in Ljubljana organised by Slovenian Third Age University at the end of September and uniting about 50 participants from various professional backgrounds. And what is more, the conference is a result of the work of a group of older students and retired professionals. It is clear that social capital (structures, values, norms etc.) makes things happen.
An international Training Programme for Older Adult Educators was run from 23rd to 27th by Slovenian third Age University for Latvian, Lithuanian Spanish and Slovenian participants within the Erasmus+ P3AE project( funded by European Union).
Slovenia is preparing for the European Code Week stimulating coding for all, not only men but literally everybody; women, young people, older people etc. Slovenian Third Age University is contributing an event where coding will be taught, though without using computers. (Project Silver Code).
Within the project RefugeesIn, real life stories form Escape to Belonging have been collected as to serve as a basis for the scripts of documentary films to be produced by U3A older students.
Last but not least the 34th study year of the Slovenian Third Age University is about to start. A great number of new students are getting enrolled.
