The representatives of the Soroptimist International Clubs along the Danube had met from 12th to 15th of July 2018 within the frame of the 11th Danube Festival Ulm/New-Ulm and the meeting of the partners of the education network Danube-Networkers.
The network of the SI-Danube Club goes back to an initiative of the SI Club Ulm/Donaustadt. Representatives of 10 Clubs from Moldavia, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Germany want to create a Danube-axis within the existing SI-Europe-Union. In the future, the Clubs from the Danube countries want to intensify the joint project work with the aim promoting European understanding between civil societies in the Danube countries on the basis of the soroptimist principles.
On Saturday, 14th July 2018, the founding meeting of the SI Danube-Network took place. The representatives taking part presented the work of their Clubs as well as their ideas about the future cooperation. A Resolution prepared by the SI Ulm-Donaustadt, describing the goals of the SI Danube-Network, was discussed and adopted.
On the Sunday, the 14th of July 20918, all representatives of the Clubs took part in the Danube-Networkers’ Danube-Bridge-Breakfast on the Herdbrücke, the Soroptimist sisters from Bregenz, Austria, joined in – a symbolic bridge over the Danube with much communication and many visitors from Ulm and its region.
The meeting in Ulm was enriching for all participants and surely a successful start for a hopefully fruitful future cooperation.
